A magic item with quite a number of uses, the Decanter of Endless Water makes frequent appearances in our games. Found in the Dungeon Master's Guide, it can be used as a source of drinking water, a means for putting out fires, an impromptu slippery-surface generator for slidin' fun, and a dragon slayer, among other things. Most recently, in my current campaign, Big Green had one specially made to produce, rather than pure water, a strong ogre brew.

The Decanter can dispense its endless water at three different speeds, ranging from "stream" to "geyser". Activated and deactivated by a command word the Decanter normally looks like an ordinary flask, but at full power can actually deal some minor damage to a target. With that much pressure, however, the user has to put some muscle into staying on his or her feet.

The Kender once used a Decanter of Endless Water to take care of a draconic opponent in a campaign run by the Dwarf. Aided by the fearless spirit only a Kender has, he got himself into the dragon's mouth and dove down into its lungs. Surrounded by cushiony dragon lungs, the Kender set the flask to "geyser" and just waited while the dragon effectively began to drown. Needless to say, this was a proud achievement for our topknot-sporting friend, though it caused the Dwarf some grief.

So, whether you need reliable drinking water in the Ever-Changing Chaos of Limbo or just a way to beat the summer heat, look no further than a Decanter of Endless Water, available from your local Wan Mavir supplier. Just don't let the dragons see you walking out with it.
